Device: HDPE Tote Lids for Walk-in Cooler Produce Totes Problem: The top layer of produce in open topped totes stored in the walk-in cooler will dry out if the tote isn’t covered. The produce could also be contaminated if something drips or falls into the tote. Solution: 1/8” sheets of HDPE (a smooth easily cleanable plastic used for cutting boards and tabletops in food service) were cut to size and are used to cover the top tote in each stack of totes in the cooler. Impact: The tote covers keep the produce in peak condition longer, protect the product from contamination and can be washed and re-used.
