The Maine Grain Alliance is proud to celebrate the 10th annual Kneading Conference on July 28 & 29, 2016, at the Skowhegan State Fairgrounds. In its 10th year, the Kneading Conference reflects on the last decade in local grain by welcoming Amy Halloran, author of The New Bread Basket: How the New Crop of Grain Growers, Plant Breeders, Millers, Maltsters, Bakers, Brewers, and Local Food Activists Are Redefining Our Daily Loaf, as the 2016 Keynote Speaker. The annual Kneading Conference brings together farmers, professional and home bakers, chefs, cooks, grain researchers, maltsters, food entrepreneurs, millers and wood-fired oven enthusiasts to educate one another about the art and science of growing and milling grains and baking artisan breads. This two-day conference will feature more than 50 workshops, several farm-to-table meals, and networking opportunities. The event lends itself to invaluable, casual conversations across disciplines like no other gathering. You will find yourself among an accomplished, masterful, and diverse collection of 250+ grain enthusiasts.
