This half day gathering will bring together farm to institution advocates and diverse representatives from Rhode Island colleges and universities for focused learning and networking to advance local foods efforts in the state. The convening is co-hosted by Farm to Institution New England and the University of Rhode Island.
The convening will include panel presentations and facilitated discussion on topics such as:
- Setting Local Purchasing Goals and Assessing Your Progress
- Engaging Students in Local Foods Efforts
- How Rhode Island Universities Can Become Leaders in Local Seafood Purchasing
Participants will learn from experienced campus practitioners about best practices in these areas including many successful initiatives on Rhode Island campuses.
Who Should Attend
- Staff from Rhode Island colleges and universities including dining services, sustainability officers, faculty, administrators, and students
- Community partners such as local food and agriculture organizations
- Supply chain partners such as farmers, produce distributors, fishermen, and seafood processors
