To celebrate opening day of the Armory Farmers Market, the annual tradition continues of a Seafood Throwdown cooking competition — free and open to the public from 4 to 6 pm! This year, two renowned chefs from local restaurants will square off for bragging rights to see who can make the best seafood dish using a surprise ingredient sourced off the coast of New England, plus other ingredients found at the farmers market.
On deck to MC the Seafood Throwdown is Brendan Kirby from The Rhode Show, while RI FOOD FIGHTS’ Jim Nellis, Johnson & Wales University College of Culinary Arts Department Chair Maureen Pothier, and Roger Williams University Director of Culinary Operations Jonathan Cambra will join us on the judging panel!
Co-Sponsored by Farm Fresh Rhode Island (www.farmfreshri.org) and Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance (www.namanet.org), the Seafood Throwdown highlights the importance of locally caught seafood to Rhode Island’s economy, community, and marine ecosystem.
