Rain collecting hut "Planerinnenhütte"

A plan, since now, of a 20 square meter hut with just a roof made of a sheet of tarpaulin. It has 5 corners. The tarpaulin is formed to collect rainwater at the lower eaves end. It's a wooden construction.

Cold Frame with Recycled Windows

Use salvaged windows and materials to construct a mini-greenhouse for season extension. These cold frames can be used to warm soil before planting directly in the ground, create a micro climate for seedlings and starts, overwinter dormant plants, and more.

Grazers "kit" for fido/apitronics

After a recent grazer's conference it was clear that a useful "kit" for a FIDO/Apitronics system would be a system with the following set of sensors/switches

  1. electric fence system voltage and remote shutoff (rover)
  2. chest/meat freezer data log and alert
  3. water level alerts

This covers the basic worry points with an animal grazing operation - are they secure in the fence? do they have water? and is freezer working to protect the thousands of dollars of product already harvested?

Irrigation

I recently read a book, Botany for Gardners. In it I found information on how much a corn plant typical transpires in a given season. This got me to thinking about other plants. The book stated that a single corn plant will transpire 55 gallons of water throughout a growing season. In other words, seedling to harvest. In a typical growing season of 130 days, that translates to about 2.4 gal/day. Seems like a lot of water. Does anyone know if this kind of information exists for other plants?

Auto-fill High Output Temperature Controlled Humidifier

Sweat Box Germination Chamber

By DGrover
A "sweat box" style germination chamber built using readily available parts and a broken chest freezer. Early season germination can be inconsistent without a closely controlled environment for starting seeds. Commercial greenhouses use similar systems but the cost can be...
