Oat Dehuller - Model SR-50

Hi FarmHack,

I just want to make sure I understand the basics of how the machine works.

• The seeds enter the center of the rotor
• The rotor rotation sends the seed with high velocity to an outer ring where the shell breaks
• (Where/How does the machine separate the shell and the seed?)
• The cyclone filter recuperates the seeds at the bottom

By the way, I will draw everything on Autodesk Inventor before I start building. Any info will help!

I am very interested in building one of these for my small grain farm and have the tools and material to build one. I'm curious as to if the machine as described here was ever operated. The drawings are hard to put together into a coherent picture of the final machine, especially the rotor design. It all looks like drawings out of an old farmer's notebook from 1980, was this the machine tested or was it reimplemented from his drawings?

There is a mention of it being operated at New Hampshire - any pictures of the final machine or reports of performance would be quite valuable!

We are a fabrication shop that has been hired to fabricate this item for a local farm that has 25 acres of oats to harvest and dehull this fall. Is there any way to access some larger images so that we can print and reference them in shop?

This tool was demonstrated at the New Hampshire Farm hack, and I think there were several folks taking photos. Anyone out there that could post photos of it in operation for the wiki?

The oat huller tool wiki could benefit from the scanned in engineering drawings being transfered to CAD files. Any one out there know someone learning CAD that is looking for a project? This would reduce the burden for the next to build.
