I just joined farm hack. I live in Quebec, speak French, own a copy of the book in question, have dealt with the publishers in France previously to order a quantity of the manuals and generally have a pretty good idea what the deal is. Translation is likely to be a big undertaking for something on this scale but I'm interested to be part of the discussion or maybe translate elements of the Triangle design that need translation.

I haven't yet built triangle hitches for the implements on our farm but it's firmly placed in the mid to upper part of my endless list of priorities.

We have a draft horse powered, 100% grass-fed sheep dairy in Central New York. We use draft horses and mules to do all of our farm work. Draft work is my passion and I try to do everything I can with our draft horses, mules and donkey. They mow hay, ted and rake, and bale hay. They plow, disc, harrow, and cultivate. They skid logs for firewood and ash logs that we mill for building projects.

Dorn Cox has been advocating for an organizations/workshop feature on Farm Hack. While I haven't had time to get Organizations to Dorn's vision, I have achieved the functionality of this. See screenshots. The first one is Dorn's wireframe, the second is what I've had time to make. If what I made is "good enough" then lets go for it.

CALL TO ACTION One thing that I think could help push this along is a banner at the top of the page to indicate that it's an organization page. Does anyone want to design it?

I have some numbers on the needs of any vent system and for my system specifically.

For a passive ventilation system, the vents need to be 20% of the size of the square footage of the growing space. so a 200 sq ft space would need 40 sq ft of ventilation (eg. wide open windows or doors).

The Farming Institute (www.thefarminginstitute.com) is a unique, fast track, 11 week farming immersion program taking place on two vegetable farms using organic practices in Eastern Iowa. It is designed to equip emerging farmers of all ages, such as college students, recent graduates or others wanting to fulfill a dream. The program includes a mixture of hands on and classroom experience. During the program, students will complete a business plan for their future farm and learn about the land, the business of farming and the farming process.

Severine requested we add a text search feature so I turned it on. It's using the default Drupal Search module. If the results are subpar then we could look into using the Apache Solr Search module which requires more work to get going but usually has better results.

Though not full-system temp management, automatic vent openers are a good option for venting tunnels and greenhouses in no-elec situations. Search around online - most seem to fall within the $50-100 range. We've had good success with them in helping prevent midday high temp extremes.

The new Farmhack event tool template is available to review and modify based on your experiences attending or organizing past events. The idea is to take what has made past events work well, and share them in a way to make folks in other parts of the country be able to duplicate the best aspects of them and have the fun, creative and productive culture of creating, sharing and improving come through.
