Thoughts on "The Internet Of Someone Else’s Things"

I just came by Jon Evans piece on Techcrunch blog, The Internet of Someone Else's Things. It's interesting to hear in the mainstream some echoes of what drives us to decentralize the Internet of Things to give power back to the farmer. He makes some good points.

They say “possession is nine-tenths of the law,” but even if you physically and legally own a Smart Thing, you won’t actually control it. Ownership will become a three-legged stool: who physically owns a thing; who legally owns it; …and who has the ultimate power to command it. Who, in short, has root.

Young Carpenters?

I wonder if people here can help me in a quest? This has a sort of connection with being a young farmer, I think. I’m trying to locate some websites that discuss and show (pics or vids) young carpenters who have built something. Such as, a shed or “tiny house”.

I’ve been searching with Google and found one or two sites, but not many.

If you know of anything, please post it in a reply here. Thanks.

FarmHack gatherings: pics or video?

I'm just wondering if anyone has videos or good, clear pics of farm machines, devices, or equipment that have been brought for display or sharing to any of the various Farm Hack gatherings? Original working models or prototypes.

Wondering about things that may not as yet have shown up in the Tools section of this site.

If so, is there some way to post them?

Hello I'm Jamie!

I'm a veteran mail carrier, and future farmer. I'm looking for apprentiship type opportunities throughout the U.S. and possibly elsewhere. I'm interested in sustainable architecture, permaculture, organic hydro/aquaponics, and becoming a generalist. I've pursued Civil Engineering obtaining an associate degree, but had a hard time financially working and going to school, so I took a job offer with the Post Office. My work ethic and curiosity are second to none. I've been tinkering with small scale organic growing with raised beds and making my own compost with a fair amount of sucess.

California to GA Farmer introduction

Hey y'all Jim here, Experienced Agriculture Trainer and Horticulture Therapist who is planning a transition to Farming. While currently living in Southern California I plan on relocating back home to NE Georgia. As a member of the Farmer Veteran Coalition I hope to incorporate an element of Veteran education as I would ideally provide Agriculture training for Veterans interested in the Industry. My focus is on Niche, Ethnic and "At-Risk" produce as well as Pasture/forest raised Pork. Any comments or tips would be GREATLY appreciated.
