help? off farm food cart idea but run by battery.

wondering if someone can help or point to a basic resource on using battery power. wanting to do small food cart for off farm income (live very close to a college entertainment district). wondering if can use battery power to run just light strings, speakers (maybe) and a toaster oven. will be a cheesecrisp stand. am thinking to use a high capacity 12v battery and an inverter like used in a car and then just plug the stuff in. should that work? how to figure how long the setup could run on the battery? hope to solar recharge; i imagine that would be simple. thanks

Remote Fire Alarm For Barns?

I am interested in putting together fire alarm systems for two of my barns where I house livestock. Ideally I could set something up that would sound an alarm inside my house to alert me to the danger of a fire. I found fire alarms set up with relays, but they are quite expensive ($70/unit not including shipping). Standard fire alarms are pretty cheap. Any ideas on how to retrofit several to sound a remote alarm?

Thanks.

Am interested in converting a 1950's era propane Heister forklift to electric.

I am interested in converting a 1950's era propane powered Heister forklift to electric (recently solar powered) but don't have the mechanical know how. I am solicitating opinions and advice as to whether this is a possible/reasonable thing to do. Also ideas for how to do it and where to buy parts. Thanks!

Did this machine ever run?

I am very interested in building one of these for my small grain farm and have the tools and material to build one. I'm curious as to if the machine as described here was ever operated. The drawings are hard to put together into a coherent picture of the final machine, especially the rotor design. It all looks like drawings out of an old farmer's notebook from 1980, was this the machine tested or was it reimplemented from his drawings?

There is a mention of it being operated at New Hampshire - any pictures of the final machine or reports of performance would be quite valuable!

self propelled wheel hoe?

Has anyone considered or seen a self-propelled wheel hoe or potential bcs attachment that could undercut weeds in pathways? We use the tiller attachment for all of our path cultivation but it is slow and mean. Pushing a wheel hoe over 20 acres of bed paths sounds pretty brutal but a BCS attachment could be pretty nifty. Any thoughts or experience with self propelled wheel hoes out there?
